A Special Curtis

Authors Note: “This essay will be on Ponyboy explaining why he is a Dynamic character”.

If you read the Outsiders would you put Ponyboy as a Dynamic or Static character in the Outsiders? I would put him as a Dynamic because he changed a lot being around socs and talking to them so he learned that it wasn’t easy being a socs either. Before that he thought before that moment that the socs had it made, big houses, mustangs, and a lot of food. Ponyboy was wrong because when the greasers beat the socs the socs were still ahead of the greasers. Throughout the novel Ponyboy learned to socialize with both the Greasers and the Socs. I think Ponyboy learned the most important action in the story, and that is to not judge the Socs before getting to know them. I think Ponyboy is a Dynamic character because he used to judge the Greasers before getting to know them and now he gets to know them first.

To begin, I felt that Ponyboy fit in as more of a dynamic character, more than a static character for many reasons. One way is because in the beginning he wouldn’t talk to any Socs only the Greasers, and in the end he learned to socialize with everybody, and that being a isn’t easy because before that he thought that Socs are people with mansions, mustangs, and were rich but he was wrong.
"What did that Socs want Pony"?
" He’s not a Socs, just a guy who wanted to talk".
That shows that he learned to not judge a person without getting to know them first and that the Socs maybe not as mean and he thought. That's an example of a Dynamic Character because in the beginning he wouldn't get in a car with a Socs. Now he doesn't care what they are a Socs nor a Greaser.

One the other hand, here is some evidence that Ponyboy has changed. When I began to read the Outsiders, Ponyboy was not talking to the Socs as much as he was in the ending of the book because he learned that a Soc is no different from a Greaser, except personality, appearance, and the side of town. There all the same because they are all humans and the Greasers should try and all be like Ponyboy. That is why Ponyboy is so special because he doesn't judge a book by it's cover. an example is when Ponyboy and Johnny went into the fire to save those kids, Darry didn't even go in to save the kids, he was just worried about Ponyboy and Johnny.

To wrap things up, those were the reasons why Ponyboy is a Dynamic Character.  I think Ponyboy learned the most important action in this story, that is to not judge a book by it’s cover or in the real world don’t judge a person if he or she’s a socs, he should “stay gold”, stay the way he is, and don't change for anybody else, he's special compared to all of the Greasers. I think Ponyboy is a Dynamic character because he used to judge the Greasers before getting to know them and now he gets to know them first.
