Dear Doon

Dear Doon, 
Authors Note: "This is a Cause/Effect piece I did for my writing goals, it is a letter to one of the main characters in City of Ember and that character is Doon." 

            Why did you run away from Ember? I mean, Lina is a good friend but you didn’t you stay in Ember? You could have made it a way better city by fixing the pipes just like you did in the beginning of the book. Now you two made a huge decision to go into Earth when you know nothing about it. People on Earth may find out you came from another city, maybe even worse. I know that there was a black out and the power was going to shut down for good but you should have stayed and tried to fix the power and figured out how to fix Ember forever. Although, I do think you made a terrible decision to leave Ember.

            First of all, I think it was uncalled for you too to run away from Ember. I know you might have died if you stayed in Ember, but it’s not your fault, it’s your city where you have been living for during the last 13 years of your life. I know you and Lina were just trying to protect yourselves but you guys also ruined your reputation, and your life. When you two went to Earth the spirit of Ember went with you, it was to protect yourself and for the protection. Now, ou guys will need to start a new life on Earth.

            Second of all, you two just ruined your chance to help save Ember. Now you guys just completely turned on your city and gave up trying to renovate it and just moved on. Nobody in Ember will appreciate that, I guarantee that. You’re going to learn how to blend in while on Earth because eventually word will get out that you’re from a different world and people will go berserk. I sure hope that you and Lina can go back to your home town Ember.

            In conclusion, I really hope that you two would come back to Ember. Everyone in Ember is worried about you and hope you will come back soon. In the book “The City of Ember”, it shows how much you change as a person over the span of a book. Doon for example wanted nothing more than to work on Ember such as in the pipes. He always wanted to help the city but now in the end he ran away from Ember wanting no part of it because you made a terrible decision. But that’s not my problem, that’s yours for making that decision and I hope you can think about that. I really think you made a terrible decision for leaving Ember and I plead you to come back. Although, I do think you made a terrible decision to leave Ember.
